GOOD DAY!

I need your help. I know somebody close to me with HIV. He was diagnosed 5 years ago but up to now he still has not done anything about it to have another check up or get treatment. I believe that he is having a hard time to accept it. What can I do to help him out?

Can he still work?

Thank you so much.

Hope to hear from you.

Jeda

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi Jeda.

Thank you for your email. You are a good friend as I read from your email.

Here are some of the steps that you can take to convince him to seek consult and get treatment:

1. Read the blog. Perhaps through this, he will be enlightened to take the necessary steps.
2. Ask your friend if it's ok if a counselor can talk to him. If he agrees to this, call RITM Satellite Clinic and look for any HIV counselor who can talk to your friend.
3. You can start convincing your friend to go to any treatment hubs that I posted here in the blog. Check them out:

In the treatment hubs, there are counselors and HIV doctors there who will enlighten him about his disease and help him out with the process.
4. You can start reading the blog entries about the process of treatment, the PLHIV stories and start sharing them to your friend.
5. Tell him directly that you are really concerned about him and you are willing to go with him to the treatment hub so he won't be scared to get treatment.

Regarding your question about work, of course he can. But if he won't get treatment ASAP, he might get some deadly opportunistic infections which may compromise his health and block his work opportunities.

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
