Email 440: Taking ARV's Without Prescription?


Sir, what is ARVS? Can I take that without prescription here in Middle East, GCC country.

Thank you for your email.

ARV's are antiretrovirals also known as ART or HAART or highly active antiretroviral therapy. They are highly toxic medicines used for the treatment of HIV, to "tame" them to non dangerous levels. They have a lot of side effects, thus prior to taking them the HIV doctor needs to monitor all blood work and will keep on monitoring while you are on them.

Taking ARV's without prescription is thus a very risky thing to do. Only doctors can prescribe it and work on different cocktails of ARV's suited for you. Please don't self prescribe as instead of helping your self,  you might complicate your health in the process.
