Email 484: Brother is HIV Reactive

Hi Pozzie,

Nabasa ko website mo...today sinamahan ko brother ko sa RITM Satellite, in Malate, Manila ..after 2hours, the result came out...it was HIV reactive..

Please reply back.

Hi Pozzie,

I read your website. Today, I accompanied my brother in RITM Satellite. After 2 hours the result came out and it was HIV reactive. He was negative in Hepa and STD.

My question is, you said that it is 100% accurate and no need for confirmatory. When it is HIV reactive, does it mean that my brother is HIV positive? He was told to get the CD4 test in RITM Alabang.

Please reply back.

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi XXX.

Thank you for your email.

The HIV test in RITM Satellite Clinic is accurate as 2 tests are being conducted to a patient's blood. When the result comes out negative or non-reactive, that means the tests didn't detect any HIV antibodies. However, if the result comes out positive or reactive, it means that the tests have detected HIV antibodies, thus the person is diagnosed to have HIV.

Since the HIV test result of your brother was HIV reactive, then he is now diagnosed to have HIV.

The next step for your brother is to take the baseline blood work, lab tests and CD4 test in RITM-ARG in Alabang. Unlike most HIV/AIDS Treatment hubs in the country that will wait for the confirmatory result coming from DOH which will take up to two weeks or more, RITM-ARG accepts the final result of the RITM Satellite Clinic. Thus the newly diagnosed PLHIV can start focusing fast on his health. Also, all the baseline tests there are free.

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
