Hi Pozziepinoy,
I plan to get tested after 6 weeks (I'll be in Pinas by then) post exposure and then 12 weeks after (then after 6 months?) What are the chances na dun ako sa test center makakuha ng hiv? For example, di sterile ung needle na gagamitin? Sobrang skeptic ko lang.
Hi there.
Thank you for your email.
Let me address your concerns in the order that you asked them.
First, when it comes to the condom use, let it be a lesson to you to make sure that you put it on rather than rely on somebody else so next time you won't be skeptical anymore.
Second, HIV has non specific symptoms however, during the early infection, you will feel having flu like symptoms and that's it. What you are feeling could be anything and can also be due to your anxiety towards your experience.
Third, if you want to make sure that you won't get HIV or any other infection from non sterile needles, then make sure to check the nurse or medical technician as he or she takes off the needle from the packet. In all testing centres, you will see how they do it right in front of you so you won't be skeptical once again.
Fourth, there is no difference between an HIv test that is FREE from one with a fee. Of course, if it is a free testing, expect that the testing facility is a bit crowded as compared to the facility that you have to pay for the test.
I am glad that you will take the HIV test when you come back to the Philippines. If you want assistance just feel free to call me at 0916-286-2066
I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.
Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
