OFW and the HIV Test

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this email finds you well.

It was very devastating to know that my partner's health condition has been showing signs of HIV. We had been into a relationship for more than 7 years now. Since 2013, I decided not to have any sexual contact with him for the reason that I see him as a brother. I had myself tested last year and it was negative.

We decided that he should be tested last October. Until now, he is afraid to get the result. He has been paranoid or afraid that he will be held in custody once the result is positive.

I am working here abroad to support the needs of my family as well as his personal needs. Living alone in a foreign country is very difficult. There are instances that I can no longer bear the loneliness. And to add to that, my life is slowly becoming miserable. I can't afford not to provide the needs of the people I love. Please enlighten us on how to go about this situation we have.

Any information or help you can extend will highly be appreciated.

Thanks ahead for giving us the chance to see a brighter side of life.

Best Regards,
XXX

Issues with my Refill

Hello PP,

My name is Starbucks (obviously not my real name), i'm 27, and i was diagnosed with HIV last year. I've seen improvements on my test results and now my doctor says my VL is "undetected". I have been living a normal life with my partner who is also a PLHIV.

i was given an opportunity to work abroad, specifically in Doha, however, my dilemma is how do i get ARV medicines. I will be out of the country for a 2-year contract and I don't thing my current treatment hub would be able to give me enough medicines for 2 years. i am currently with PGH-SAGIP as my treatment hub.

I hope you can give me advice and help on what to do. Thank you and more power

Love,
Starbucks

AIDS Hour

The AIDS Hour: An Innovative HIV Campaign Concept

To have a stronger awareness campaign on a national scale about HIV and AIDS, the Project Red Ribbon Care Management Foundation, Inc. will be launching the first ever Philippine AIDS Hour. This innovative project is not only the first in the country but also the first of its kind for HIV and AIDS in the entire world. This project would entail campaigning for everyone for the lighting of candle for one hour in homes, companies, schools, etc. Participation in this project will help Filipinos focus their commitment to HIV and AIDS for the rest of the year.

Rationale

Engagement is the key to providing education and empowerment. The challenge of the country is engaging the general population to the HIV and AIDS programs of the Philippines, for everyone to focus on HIV and AIDS.

The AIDS Hour was conceptualized in January 2016 by Project Red Ribbon as an engaging platform for HIV awareness. Every year, the foundation noticed that engagement to HIV events are attended by only by those who are already empowered individuals, by the government and non-government agencies with HIV programs, by organizations, companies, educational and religious institutions, and groups who are advocating for HIV. The challenge this year is to engage everyone, from all regions of the country, from all cities down to all barangays to pay attention to the HIV and AIDS.

Your LIFE can be SAVED!

Your life can be saved!

Early HIV testing and early treatment are the keys to saving one’s health and life. Obstacles to these are misinformation about HIV and AIDS, stigma and discrimination issues and lack of information about treatment protocols.

MY PLHIV Journey: This is my story R15-JCM2-ALPHA

This is my Journey as a PLHIV ;)

July 18, 2015. Today I thought I Died.. :( … It was 6 months ago since i was diagnosed with minimal tuberculosis and almost done with the treatment when I caught another disease early july and it was pneumonia… My Infectious Disease doctor advised me to take the test but I always neglected to do so…

July 18,2015, I decided to do that through RITM-Satellite Malate and I was with my friend XXX.. Told her if I got tested positive I’ll accept that… I filled out the necessary form and was having doubts to be tested. When I was about to be called (A number away from the last extract).. (actually I told XXX lets just go home) So the extraction is done, A counselor approached me and orient me about everything and ask us to be back after 2 hours for the results… XXX and I went to McDonalds to eat and told her lets just go home and lets just not get the results..hahaha lol :P
