Hi Pozziepinoy,

Salamat po.

POZZIEPINOY'S RESPONSE

Hi XXX,

Thank you for your email. Thank you for finding the blog.

Now, let's address your concern.

First, if your relative is newly diagnosed with no symptoms of any infections, then you can go to any government treatment hubs in the country. The consultation is free, the antiretroviral medicines are free, and most of the laboratory tests are free or are at a discounted rate. You can refer to the treatment hub listing below:

Now, if your relative needs to be confined, best is to go to any government hospital for the treatment of his or her opportunistic infections. Since you mentioned that you guys are financially challenged for his or her treatment, you may get a Barangay indigency certification then present it to the hospital's social worker. Also, the gain access to financial assistance, you guys can go to the DSWD of your municipality or city or region for assistance for people living with HIV. For the hospitalization bill, apply for financial assistance to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. PhilHealth can also cover the hospitalization bill as long as one is a member. If proven that the patient is indigent, once confined he or she can be given one year free membership to avail off the privileges of PhilHealth. Other approach their congressmen, mayors or even senators for assistance. The point here is that a person with HIV can have access to medical treatment by going to the different government agencies.
