Email 405: How to Boost My Immune System?

Good Day!

Im G, 23 from Davao City. I found out that i am HIV positive when i was confined in one of the Hospitals abroad. I was working in a ship when i got severely sick and no one could tell what/how did i get such a terrible illness since i look so healthy.

When the doctor told me about the news, i was like, oh my God. How did it happen? And everything else i was imagining of pursuing / achieving shut down. I dont know what to do. I dont know how to tell my parents about this. I am running out of options when i am thinking that i have this.

Email 404: On STD Tests in RITM Satellite Clinic

Ask ko lang po kung libre din po ba magpa sti/std test sa satellite clinic ng ritm sa malate? Kung free po. Pwede po ba malaman yung address o specific landmark nya? Salamat po.

Hi Pozziepinoy,

First let me give my wholehearted thanks to this blog which helps me a lot in knowing what steps should I make since I was diagnosed positive of HIV. I was located in Qatar by the time that I discovered that I have the said condition but the result there was not clear yet so I went back to the Philippines and had my HIV test here. Then I confirmed that I was indeed one of the Pozzies.

TRANSLATION

Hi Pozzie. I am Red, a bisexual male. I had sex with another guy last September 2013 then again this November 2013. When can I take the HIV test that will be accurate so that I don't have to come back for another confirmatory test?

Thank you.

Email 399: Have Protected Sex!

Good day pozzie.

Searched your blog on google lang po. Got screened last month and unfortunately it was reactive. I am still waiting for my confirmatory test..

Last monday, my partner got tested also pero non reactive xa. Constant naman yung unprotective sex namen. Does this mean I have still the chance of becoming negative or nasa window period pa rin yung partner ko? Thanks.

Email 398: Weight Loss and Side Effects of ARV's

Dear Pozziepinoy,

Hope you are always well and kudos always for the blog.

As you know I'm already on ARV's for 2 months (lami/zido and efavirenz), my doctor said i should not diet, i should eat a lot of meat, vegetables and carbs (rice). This maybe because my CD4 at that time i started my ARV is 155, so i need all the nutrients and my past CBC is kind of low and further going down. However, I'm gaining weight, so the doctor advised me to start exercising, I stand 5'8, before i started my ARV i was 160lbs with a bit of muscles as i gym and play a lot of badminton,  2 months after I gained 10lbs, slowly losing my muscles and getting bigger in the mid-section area. I saw on the blog that you are muscular ( congratulations and that is very impressive!!!) my questions are:

1. How can I lose weight without sacrificing the nutrients i need, my diet is a cup of rice every meal, either meat or fish with vegetables. I take centrum, an additional folic acid and vitamin B. Can I cut on the rice? But my hemoglobin, RBC, and WBC is low. Or what is the best alternative for rice? What diet would you recommend?

Have a Screening!

Hi pozzie, I just want to tell you my appreciation for your effort in disseminating information through his blog of yours. It gives hope & awareness & empowering fellas to take control of their lives. Here is my story, I am married & have son. Not long ago I had a one night stand with a lady working in a BPO company (I'm not promiscuous, just so happen my wife is in abroad back then & I allowed myself to be drawn by the carnal yearning of my body) I have no potection & we did it thrice. After a few weeks I had the worst tonsillitis I ever had in my life. It lasted for two weeks along with that is LBM, myalga, head & joint aches. That was 2011 & to make it worse my wife found out & every night she was crying on top of my chest while I am soundly asleep (2012). Because of this blog I became aware & thought that I might have HIV because of the 2011 incident & said to myself better have screening just to be sure since HIV has a latency period (2013). Fortunately I am negative & I consider this my 2nd life. I can't sleep for a month because of this.
