hi pozzie, 

 i just engaged in an oral sex with a masseur, i haven't felt any semen in my mouth since di sya nagpalabas ng cum, but when i went home, i had canker's sore pala in my mouth, im just afraid that i might acquire hiv or any stds because of this. im soo scared right now i can't seem to sleep thinking about it. what can you advise me to do?and how much do tests for hiv usually costs?

Thank you for your email. Thank you for sharing your concern with me and my readers.

Oral sex is a very low risk for HIV transmission. However, having canker sore or any mouth wounds can increase the risk. Also, even the pre cum contains HIV thus even without the person ejaculating in one's mouth, HIV can still be transmitted. Other STD's can also be transmitted through oral sex.

 The best thing that you need to do is consult with an infectious disease doctor so you will need to know what STD tests you need to take. When it comes to HIV, HIV testing can be done anytime but the most accurate is 3 months post exposure to really make sure that in case there was indeed transmission of the virus, the body has already produced the HIv antibodies which are the ones being detected by the HIV test. In government hospitals, the HIV test is either free or ranges to P500. In private hospitals, the test is up to P1,500.

Please don't be scared. This is the right time to get a consultation. Also, since you don't know your HIV status, please don't have unprotected sex anymore.
