TRR Support Group Talk: March 2014

Yesterday, The Project Red Ribbon (TRR) had it's support group talk in Ermita, Manila. We were privileged to have Dr. Mars Custodio, the Chairman of Asia and Pacific Islanders Coalition on HIV/AIDS (APICHA), an organization based in New York City.

During the Support Group, we were able to discuss current trends in HIV/AIDS, importance of a support group, acceptance and disclosure to family and friends, obstacles to treatment, treatment goals, ARV adherence and the TRR activities. The activity ended with an afternoon snack.

We would like to thank Dr. Ditangco for giving us space to conduct our talk in the Grand Lodge Hostel.

For inquiries about the Support Group Talks, please call our TRR Care Managers:

Email 464: Looking for a Support Group

Hi Pozzie.

I was just diagnosed last November 2013 with HIV.  I was devastated but learned to accept it eventually. My partner was tested negative, thank God. He decided to stay with me and help me with this. I am already undergoing treatment and by next month will be having my vaccines.

I am looking for a group of people whom I can talk to because there are times when I feel really depressed and helpless. I have been out of work for 3 months now and im just waiting for my fit to work from my doctor to get back to work but my health is deteriorating fast and I have been doing everything what the doctors have been advising me to do.

Is it true that eventually everything will be back to normal? I lost a lot of weight and I have rashes all over my body. I hope somehow you can help
me.

Yogibear.

Email 433: Looking for Support

Hi Pozzie,  good day!  I recently went to RITM Satellite clinic, my results were reactive for HIV and HBV, I then got my tests done after a week at RITM Alabang, my CD4 count result is at 219. I haven't been given ARV's yet because my X-ray and sputum test results wouldn't be available after a week,  also I haven't done my PPD test as well. I'm kind of getting paranoid during this one week wait time. I have a lot of questions running in my mind right now,  I haven't been getting enough support from my ex who's also positive to whom I may or may not have gotten this from. I hope to hear from you soon.  Thanks Pozzie!!!

Also if you know some support groups to help me get through this,  that'll help a lot.  Thanks again...

The 1st Red Ribbon Support Group Talk

The 1st Red Ribbon Support Group Talk last October 19, 2012 was a huge success thanks to all the 30 participants and to the special guests who graced the event.

The event started with a prayer by Pastor Patrick then all the PLHIV participants were introduced to the group. This was followed by the talk about HIV/AIDS by one of the founders of The Red Ribbon, Malcolm Brown from Thailand. Miss Charmaine from Yoga for Life also gave a brief talk about the benefits of Yoga to the PLHIV's. The event ended with a blessing by Pastor Patrick and handmade rosaries from Sisters Rose and Helen were distributed to the group. Friends from The Love Yourself also participated in the event.

Email 232: About Hubs and Support Group

Hi Pozziepinoy.

Good day to you.

I have been a silent reader of your blog ever since I suspected myself of having HIV. And since the tests are all in and result is +, I am e-mailing you about this.

I am person who was not been very emotional about it. Of course I worried but not to a point of having this affected my daily routine.  I got this because of my carelessness so I need to suck it up and deal with it and move on.
