Hi Pozziepinoy.
I hope you can help me for my treatment. My doctor wants to confine me for at least 2 weeks so I will be given my injections. One vial of my medicine is too expensive and I need it two times a day. I hope you can help me. I wish to talk to you. Thank you.
POZZIEPINOY'S RESPONSE:
Hi.
Thank you for your email.
With regards to your medicine, you need to talk to your doctor or your hub regarding it. Usually the hospital has a DSWD that you can seek assistance for your medicines. You can also try to talk to your doctor and ask for assistance so you can ask PCSO for your medicines.
We have helped a lot of PLHIV's who have outstanding medical expenses through this process and all you have to do is to ask for help from them.
I hope I was able to answer all your concerns. Feel free to email again if you have other questions.
Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy

Hi Pozziepinoy
Papano po ba makakahingi ng tulong sa PCSO. Yung kapatid ko kasi, di siya naka enroll sa RITM or sa SLH. Multiple complications din siya at ngayon, undergoing chemotherapy pa for an HIV related malignancy. Ubos na ang pera namin dahil sa labas masok niya sa ospital at kailangan na uli siya ipa chemo (3rd session niya).

Email 230: Asking for Medical Assistance
Hi Pozzie,
Good day!
Happy new year sir!
First I want to tell you my background, currently I’m working in a BPO company. Im 30 years old when I was diagnosed last February 2012. My hub is SLH, and right after I was diagnosed I started with my treatment right away because my doctor says that I was co-infected with hepatitis C and I needed to start my medications. So he gave me Azt+3tc and NPV, but it only took me 1 week for that combination because I had a rash for allergy so I was admitted to SLH for medication and observation because my doctor changed from NPV to efavirenz. After a week of medications there, they told me that I can continue with the efavirenz as I don’t have allergy on it, but they never treated my hepatitis C.

A Fruitful 2012
The year 2012 is about to end and as we all look back, HIVPhilippines.com or Living With HIV in the Philippines Blog would like to report how productive the year was as it gained momentum in helping PLHIV's throughout the country and the world. The blog and all its contributors would like to thank everyone who had contributed to all it's projects, to all those who shared comments and their stories, to those who have been part of the success of this blog.
As we end the year, we would like to share what the blog has been able to accomplish throughout the entire year 2012:

For the entire year of 2012, The Love Fund has provided medical and financial assistance to sixty three (63) PLHIV's. The assistance provided to the PLHIV's range from costs of lab tests and prophylaxis, medicines for opportunistic infections, food and transportation. Our sincerest thanks to Maram Bartolome for the efforts of monitoring TLF and submitting a monthly report to be posted in the blog.
PCSO BENEFICIARIES:
For the entire year of 2012, with the screening procedures of the RITM-ARG headed by Dr. Ditangco, the blog was able to assist PLHIV's in covering the costs of hospitalization, medicines and lab tests through the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). Twenty seven (27) PLHIV's had been provided the much needed medical assistance through the kind government office. This is, for us, a GREAT accomplishment as more and more people are having the courage in taking the HIV test and are becoming more responsible not only to themselves but to others. Kudo's to Lean M. Mogol, RMT and Phil Tanpoco of the RITM Satellite Clinic in Malate for helping out every time the blog refers patients to them.
ONLINE COUNSELLING:
For one year, the blog has become a channel for online counselling, sharing of ideas and a resource for HIV and AIDS-related concerns in the Philippines and for OFW's all over the world. The viewership has grown to reach up to 1,500 a day and because of this, Pozziepinoy and the other contributor's are pledging to help more and more people who have questions and concerns about HIV Testing, HIV and AIDS topics, about treatment, symptoms, treatment hubs and symptoms.

Inside "Spiderman"
------------------------------------------------------
"It is heart breaking to know that there are people with HIV who died because they are financially incapable to support their medical needs. The expenses are not a joke.
A 25 year old HIV patient of RITM just died a few days back because he and his mom had no money to pay for the procedure needed to prevent the virus to eat up his brain.
This story pains me big time and makes me realise how lucky I am to have known kind hearted people of RITM-ARG, The Love Fund and PCSO. Also, I am glad to have my true friends who are always there for me. Without them, I have no idea what is going to happen to me next. I'm thankful that they are giving all the support I need.
God bless them all."
--------------------------------------------------------
"Spiderman" is still confined in the hospital. Aside from his known HIV status, his doctors are considering CMV Retinitis which is causing blurriness of his eyes and neurosyphilis. His doctors will be doing procedures like CT Scan and Lumbar Tap.
Procedures and medications are expensive... we are asking for help.
Please help "Spiderman" with his current struggle. If all of us will donate a little, he can have the medical treatment that he needs. If we all contribute a little, we can save his life.

P130K Guaranteed by PCSO
Dr. Ditangco and Ate Beth coordinated with me regarding a patient who was confined for 2 months in RITM. The patient is a PLHIV with multiple infections and has been confined in the hospital for 2 months. It was reported to me that the hospital can't pay for the medicines of the patient, even provide the patient with dextrose. The Staff of RITM-ARG started to mobilize the Love Fund (TLF) however TLF can't provide all the medicines of the patient. Because of this we decided to ask the help of PCSO.

Wheelchair Donation
As part of my first year anniversary, Tag and I donated a wheelchair last week to RITM-ARG in Alabang. We coordinated with Ate Beth about it and she was so happy that they will have their own wheelchair instead of borrowing from the main hospital. She said that it will help a lot of their patients. Dr. Ditangco was very thankful but we should be more thankful to her and her staff. It is just a gesture, a way of giving back for my good health and for the service that RITM-ARG has been giving me and to the other PLHIV's.
