HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines: February 2015 Report

There are 646 new HIV cases in February 2015, the latest release of the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines under the Department of Health- National Epidemiology Center. This is a record breaking number, the highest number cases recorded in one month in 30 years.
According to the report, 96% of the cases were males, with 51% in the age range from 25-34 and 28% ranging from 15-24 years old. The regions with the highest number of cases were NCR, followed by Region VII then by Region IVA. 84% of the cases belong to males having sex with males. There were 17 reported deaths in the month of February.
To date there are 9,113 PLHIV presently on ART, From January 1984-February 2015, there were a total of 1,149 reported deaths.
