Thank You!

Hi Pozzie, (sorry i don't know what to call you :( )

I got my first test today. I'm reactive and will have to wait two weeks to get a confirmatory result. Thank you. You and your blog is the only thing that persuaded me and given me courage to confirm my status.

I'm not hoping for a miracle anymore. I know my chances of being negative on the confirmatory is pretty slim. Right now i just need someone who understands what i'm going through. I'm a 27 years old discreet male with no family to lean on or any shoulder to cry on. I feel alone.

The doctor was supportive. She allowed me time to sink it all in. I cried myself to tears after a while. I couldn't hide how devastating it felt for me. I'm usually good at hiding what i feel. This news defeated my emotional defenses in minutes.

Again, thank you. I still don't know how to live my life from this day on. I hope i can talk to you in person, i really need someone to tell me everything is going to be okay because no matter how hard i try to say it to myself, it doesn't sink in.

I live in Marikina, my Name is XXX.

Email 504: TRR Support Group

Hi pozzie.

I'm jayson 23 and was just diagnosed with HIV yesterday, would just like to ask how can I connect to your support groups because I am clueless of my situation at the moment, and I feel I need as much people as possible who understand me. I was literally crying when I read your journal, I hope I'll be as empowered as you are and in return be a source of encouragement as well to others. Please continue your good work. Thank you and hoping for your reply. :)

Email 505: "Immunocompromised" and Life Expectancy

Hi, Pozziepinoy!

Just want to ask something. If a poz started his ARV's above CD4 of 300, never had any infectious diseases, is complete with his vaccinations, no hepatitis, regularly exercises, no vices, eats right, gets enough sleep and now has undetectable virus load and a CD4 of 700+, can he still be considered immunocompromised? And regarding the life expectancy of a Filipino poz under treatment, do you have any info about this? What's the age of the longest living Filipino poz so far?

Positively Positve,
Squidmarked

My HIV Story, Two and a Half Years of Living with HIV

It was 2 years and 6 months ago when I got diagnosed with HIV, Stage IV (AIDS). I was bedridden for 10 days and I thought I was going to die. I had bibasal pneumonia (wherein both of my lungs were affected) and I also had pneumocystiis pneumonia (PCP). They were my grave opportunistic infections. My CD4 was only 70 and my initial viral load was 107,000++.

Then I recovered fast. After only 6 months of religiously taking my ARV's, my CD4 shot up to 487, then after only one year, my viral load was already undetectable. I never got any serious infection, only the common cold from time to time. My body is the same as before I got sick. I went back to work and cherished my life with my life partner and legal husband: travelling, enjoying my hobbies, valuing family and friends and enjoying life.

For 2 years and 6 months, I have been defeating HIV as my viral load is still undetectable.

One Pill, At Last!

I thought this would happen for some more years... well I was wrong.

Despite the dilemma that started happening a few weeks ago, regarding the supply of the lamivudine and tenofovir supply here in the country, something good came out of it. The One Pill cocktail!

Yes, it is true, we have the one pill cocktail of efavirenz, lamivudine and tenofovir now in our hubs in the Philippines.... and still for FREE!
