Email 190: On Blood Donation, HIV & Hepa B

Hi.

I once volunteered to donate a blood for a friend who is about to give birth. After the screening process the medical transcriptionist informed me that I failed the test and is HIV positive. It took me awhile to process what she said and was evidently shocked with the result. She told me that I have been infected 3 months ago (somewhere around May) I tried to recall any sexual activity that took place on that time frame and results to none. I informed her about this and she said that there are instances that I have it over a year but only shows at a later time (she was referring to the 3 months she initially said) being someone who always believes on consistency I doubted her arguments.

Email 153: On HIV and Hepatitis B

Hi,

Good day to you Pozzie, I was exploring the net for possible solution to my problems until I hit your page. By the way you can call me XXX, I was diagnosed as HIV positive last October and currently taking oral prophylaxis together with my ARVs.

As of the moment, I'm not having any problems with my medications except for the flu like feeling which the doctor said is normal and just an effect of my ARVs but my body will eventually adjust to it as time goes on.

Email 109: "My Experience in RITM-Satellite Clinic"

This email talks about a personal experience in RITM Satellite Clinic:

"I engaged myself very much with unprotected sex since college years, that is, roughly 5 years of making myself sexually satisfied and took for granted the possibility of getting infected.  I had minimal sexual partners but countless sexual encounters with them and never thought of using condom on every occasion and never thought of their past sexual experiences.

"Spiderman's Fight"

Ate Beth of RITM-ARG, two weeks ago texted me about the 28 year old, unemployed "Spiderman". She told me about this new patient who went to RITM-ARG, who was referred by a Self Empowerment Training (SET) participant. She met him in the clinic, with body rashes and blurred vision. Ate Beth said that her chest tightened up when he saw him being assisted by his 70 year old aunt as he had no other relatives to assist him.
