My HIV Test Experience

Dear Mr.Pozziepinoy,

I had my hiv-test done yesterday 24March 2014 at RITM Satellite Clinic, I'm the guy from the middle east asking for your assistance with the E-mail story of 454, finally hinarap ko na rin ang FEAR ko...I just came from XXX last 23May, My original plan is to be tested that same day pero I decided to take a rest muna, saka parang natatakot na ako I went to the nearest church kung san ako nag-stay ngayn, I pray hard and ask for forgiveness, asking our Lord God for a miracle kasi alam mo sa sarili mo na may ginawa ka(unprotected sex), na may possibility na ma-infect ka.

My HIV Test Experience

Thank you. Your blog was very helpful. Everything I needed to prepare myself for the tests was here. It basically showed me I should stop procrastinating and stop making up excuses.

When I was younger, I didn't care much about my sexual health. I thought if I show my affection through sex, they'll love me back. I was wrong. I learned the hard way that I should love myself more.

It was only around February last year that I started taking my overall health seriously. I had sexual contact with about 30 men, mostly unprotected, during my rebellious phase from 2005 to 2013.

I had this fear of having the virus even though I haven't been tested yet. I wanted to have peace of mind. The "what ifs" haunted me. My biggest push was the idea that I might have transferred the virus to others.

MY HIV Test Experience: Value Your Life

Hi Pozzie Pinoy.

This is my story.

I am in a discreet monogamous relationship for many years now. We only do foreplay and have never done penetration yet. It's not an issue with me at all.

With the advent of SmartPhones, dating and social sites have also sprung up. I got interested in Grindr and installed it on my phone without my partner knowing it at all.  Casual chats then became casual meet-ups which then led to casual sex. It was August of 2013 when I started having casual sex with several men that I met via this application. From August-December 2013, I've had casual sex encounters with 7 different men in total. In all these casual sex encounters, I insisted in using condoms always. They were all protected penetrative sex but we also pleased each other orally, unprotected.

Email 474: About the HIV Test

Hi pozziepinoy.

First of all thank you for your blog. I can see that it has help a lot of people and now, its helping me also with my hiv anxiety.

Last dec 28 i had a risky encounter wherein i had a brief protected insertive anal sex with a transexual sex worker. The condom was intact and it only lasted about 20 mins (she was good at hiding that he was a tranny during the encounter). However, days before the encounter, i did have some shallow wounds near my genitals which i think was already dry and healed during the encounter.

My HIV Test Experience

hi i'm a 24 y/o female. a few days back i went to RITM to get tested. the experience was good. when i got there i didn't feel nervous at all except of course before opening the envelop to see the result.

My HIV Test Experience

Hi pozzie, gerald and yomi ...

I just want to share my experience with your followers in your blog.

Sometime in May (last year2013) I was treated with this big bug Herpes2..next outbreak was Nov..I got this from another man and I was so sorry that I cheated on my husband. Long time before I discover this I was already in my right mind to end up the affair and thank God that I was able to do the right thing, not just for my family but for myself.  It was a short affair, Jan to March affair only. I regret the whole thing, I can't even forgive myself bec. I know that I can no longer nake my husband happy when it comes to sex.

Email 416: What Should I Do?

Hi Pozziepinoy,

My name is Yumi and I need your help and your advise, I went to the clinic last December 12 to have my HIV testing and I went back yesterday (December 18) to get the result, they told me that they need to re confirm the result so they need to get another blood from me. I know in my heart that I am infected, because a few years back, I got herpes and the doctor told me that it will remain in my system, I got tested that time and the result is negative. I had a boyfriend that time and just this year we broke up, we lasted for 3 years and for 3 years I have been loyal with him, after my relationship, I was engaged with different sexual activities with other men, I would go on 3sum and have other partner every other day. there are times that I am not protected. I receive a message from a sexual partner asking me if I am sick and he told me that I should get tested and so I did last December 12. I am still optimistic that the result will be negative but yesterday is a different story, when they told me that they need blood again to re confirm I knew that I am screwed.

Email 414: Do I Need a Retest?

Hi Pozzie,

this is Miguel, great to see your blog,i'm gonna tell you some story of mine on how i started to engage myself on some sexual activities,i started to have sexual experience since first year college when i was about 16 before i graduate i cant even remember how many person i got on my hands and way back 6 years ago i saw some strange symptoms that more closely related to HIV/AIDS symptoms in addition that i'm actually now experiencing some difficulties on my health like drying of skin, strange feelings like sickness, paling of eyes, over fatigue, etc. but after a years of worrying at-last i finally got tested on RITM clinic in Malate,Manila on dec 2 this year, its free and very confidential so nothing to worrying about. First i have a thought that i'll surely turn positive on my HIV test result then after a couple hours of waiting i was freakin shocked and almost cried to death when i see the final result of my rapid ICT HIV test its actually negative, but i'm just a bit curious on how accurate the rapid ICT test for the detection of HIV, do i have to undergo to another HIV test again for assurance?

hope you can help me to ease my doubts,

thank you =)

Miguel

The 3rd Outreach Program of The Red Ribbon

Today, The Red Ribbon had its 3rd Outreach Program in RITM-ARG. With our guests, Malcolm Brown, Alex Belbal, Ryan Javier and David Fabros, Gerald Santos gave a tour of the hospital, showing them around the waiting area, the clinic, the laboratory testing area, the pharmacy and finally the AIDS Research Group (ARG) Clinic.

Inside we introduced them to the staff then we had a briefing outside the clinic about The Red Ribbon and it's process flow organization. We also discussed on how we will go about the Outreach Program.

At 10:30am, the ARG clinic was already packed with clients and our guests and waited for Dr. Mark. We started with Ate Beth's introduction of the doctor who represented ARG since Dr. Ditangco was attending a seminar in Antipolo City, with a short speech, welcoming the group and the clients. One by one, the guests were introduced and gave their inspirational talks. Malcolm, Gerald, David, Yomi, Green and Ryan all gave words of wisdom and hope to the PLHIV's. Ending the talk was Pastor Patrick who gave a blessing to all of us. The Outreach ended with donation of boxes of cotrimoxazole and pill boxes to the staff of ARG for the patients and free packed lunch for all.

After the program in RITM-ARG in Alabang, the RITM-Satellite Clinic in Malate, in the afternoon, had free snacks for all clients who were waiting in line for their HIV test, counseling or test result. Lep Bulan arranged everything and he reported that clients in the clinic were smiling and very happy. Nurse Trisha claimed that the clients were thankful to the food that was given.

This was a GREAT day for all of us. We really wish that somehow the outreach program had given people hope and inspiration today and for days to come.

Thank you Dr. Ditangco, our guests and our donors for making this possible!

Email 686: Healthy and Scared to Take the HIV Test

Hi Sir,

Just call me S. Two years ago nagkaroon ako ng lagnat, diarrhea and body aches. And before nangyari yun I had unprotected sex po. Pero now healthy naman ako. But na praning ako nang nakabasa ako ng articles on HIV. Until I encountered your blog.

Tanong ko lang po possible pa rin po ba na infected ako kahit healthy naman ako ngayon? Napa praning po ako. I'm scared po. Paano po magpa HIV Test sa RITM ba yun. Anong requirements? Takot po talaga ako.

Need your help po.

S
