Side Effects of ARV?

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 12:25 PM
Hi good day.

I’m a HIV positive. 2 months ago ko pa lang nalaman na HIV positive ako. My initial CD4 count is 439. Im taking ARV medication nman na every 9pm. My medications are Efavirenz, Lamivudine saka Tenofovir. So far okay lang nman ako. Medyo paranoid lang minsan kasi pag sumakit likod feeling ko may TB na ako or pneumonia pero sa X-ray normal naman which is good. Ang napansin ko lang is madali akong mapagod while taking the medications. Is that part of the side effect? How will I address this problem. Is this really part ng side effect ng gamot and how should I address ito. Ayoko ng ganitong pakiramdam na parang ang tamlay tamlay ko at mabilis mapagod. Thanks

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi XXX,

Thank you for your email. Thank you for finding the blog. I hope that you would continue reading the blog entries as they are rich with personal stories and experiences.

The side effects of ARV’s are varied and may be different from one person to another. Based on what you have mentioned, all your lab tests are ok and your doctor had assured you that you fine. I believe you just need to adjust to your medicines. Instead of worrying about the side effects, which may be magnified by your worrying behavior, just mentally prepare yourself that you will be ok soon. Eventually everythingh will turn back to normal once you have adjusted to your medicines. Just be patient.

Fort the meantime, you can challenge those side effects by keeping yourself active. Exercise will boost your energy levels. Do aerobic exercises or go to the gym. If you have back pains, then do exercises for the back. If you feel weak, lift weights. For mind and boidy workout, try yoga. Trust me. It will clear up all your worries and will give you peace of mind.

XXX, as long as you have a doctor who monitors your condition, you will be ok. Sooner or later, you will be back on your feet and doing the things that you love the most.

I do hope that I was able to answer your concerns. Please feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
POZZIEPINOY
