Email 685: Worried About HIV Symptoms and Treatment
Posted by Pozziepinoy on 6:31 PM
dear sir or mdm,
POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE
Hi there.
Thank you for your email.
Let me tell you this first. HIV has non specific symptoms and only the HIV test can diagnose HIV. Even if you feel that you have "HIV related symptoms", still you won't know unless you take the test. It is the only way and nothing else. If I were you, just take the HIV test. If you are scared, please click this link to be assisted:
On your second question, ALL HIV medicines work. The only problem is the side effects of each combination so the doctor will have to know which one will be best for you. In the Philippines, all ARV's (HIV medicines) are free and can't be bought from any pharmacies. They are only given in the HIV/AIDS Treatment hubs in the country. For one to avail of these medicines, you need to present your confirmatory HIV test result first prior to enrolment to the hub.
In the meantime, instead of thinking about treatment, please take the HIV test first. A lot of people, instead of taking it, get worried about a lot of things, that when they decide on taking it, they already have a lot of infections that are associated with a weak immune system which is caused by HIV.
I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.
Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
