TRR Support Group Talk: Manila Chapter

The Project Red Ribbon's Support Group Talk has started to decentralize it's sessions this month in order to reach out to more PLHIV.  We now have 4 chapters in Metro Manila: Manila Chapter. Manila-Central Chapter, Makati Chapter and Manila-South Chapter.

The Manila Chapter started 2 weeks ago under the supervision of the TRR Care Manager Yomi. Our special guest was Ate Elen of Babae Plus who shared her wisdom to the group. The 1st Manila Chapter talk was held in RITM-Satellite Clinic in Malate in coordination with Dr. Rossana Ditangco.

Thank You!

For the past week, we have been assisting 2 babies as well as their parents with HIV.  One morning, I  received a picture from an HIV doctor:

So how can you not ignore this call?

Immediately, I called for help. I texted a friend priest who we have assisted before. We also asked The Project Red Robbin members to help out. The result was outstanding. Below is a picture of what was delivered by the priest: 4 large cans of formula milk and 10 packs of diapers. We also received cash donations from our members thru The Love Fund.

When we care, we act fast. When we know it is immediate, the action should also be immediate. Thank you to all our friends and donors!

Email 527: Anxious with the HIV Result

Hi pozzie!

Can you enlighten me on this one?

Nagpatest kasi ako sa RITM 6 weeks after exposure (oral sex exposure lang) and it was non-reactive. Pero ngayon. after 4 months. napansin ko biglang pumapayat ata ako. I do not know if this is stress-induced (lack of sleep, stress) or sa maling test results. I am panicking right now...again.

Email 526: Worried About Medicines

The TRR Dance Group: Empowering the PLHIV Community

The Project Red Ribbon Care Management Program (TRR) empowers its members to become productive members of society. Through it's empowerment programs, TRR immerse our fellow PLHIV in the mainstream society, helping people to be educated about HIV by understanding what our brothers and sisters are capable of doing, despite having HIV.

Last April 1, 2014, the TRR Dance Group presented a dance number in front of a crowd during the dance diva and TRR supporter, Miss Regine Tolentino's show in Eastwood Mall in Quezon City. The hip hop dance that the group presented was part of the skill training learned during TRR's weekly Dance Class, a part of TRR's Health and Fitness Program for PLHIV. Prior to the dance, the President of TRR first introduced the advocacy group, it's mission and vision, plus all the other monthly programs of TRR.

PLHIV Story: Not Losing Hope

Hi. Sa mga makakabasa ng aking kwento, sana po ay maging inspirasyon eto para sa inyo.

I came from the Southern part of the Philippines and has been living here in Manila for almost 5 years.

My story has started when I got exposed to the real world of being part of the 3rd sex. I never had a sexual encounters back in province and not even a kiss. I have had several sexual partners nung nandito na ako and mostly one-night-stand sa dami nila di ko na maala lahat ng names nung naging ka affair ko, hanggang sa medyo nagsawa na ako sa paulit-ulit na gawain. I used to serve the Lord back in College but I decided to stop muna
hanggat sa pinakilala nya ako sa mga childhood friends nya at hanggat sa ini-invite nya na ako sa bahay nila but as coworker kasi he just had this courage to disclose to his parents of his real sexual orientation mid of 2013. We have had several sexual intercourses protected/unprotected. Before kami gumawa ng unprotected sex ay usap usap muna kami of our medical condition and I guranteed him na I'm negative kasi hindi naman ako
masyadong  involved sa sex na may penetration. Oo marami ako ka one night stand pero those were mostly oral at hindi naman ako nag papa-bott. We both agreed na mag pa test last Nov 2014 sa isa sa mga clinic sa QC na gov't owned. It never came into my mind na maging possie ako, while we were on our way to the testing center I was so confident and never did my heart beat fast of the outcome kasi none of the symptoms ng sakit na'to ay never ko naman naramdaman in fact tumataba nga ako from being skinny.
