Revised Outpatient HIV/AIDS Treatment (OHAT) Package of PhilHealth

The revised Outpatient HIV/AIDS Treatment (OHAT) Package of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) just came out.

During the discussion with the Technical Working Group and stakeholders, PhilHealth discussed the some important matters that were added to the revised guidelines. This includes the availment of OHAT package in all 22 HIV and AIDS Treatment hubs in the country:

2. Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center

3. Cagayan Valley Medical Center

4. Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital

5. James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital

6. Philippine General Hospital

7. San Lazaro Hospital

8. Research Institute for Tropical Medicine

9. Makati Medical Center

10. The Medical City

11. Ospital ng Palawan

12. Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital

13. Western Visayas Medical Center

14. Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital

15. Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center

16. Gov. Celestino Gallarres Memorial medical Center

17. Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center

18. Southern Philippines Medical Center

19. Northern Mindanao Medical Center

20. Zamboanga City Medical Center

21. Butuan Medical Center

22. Caraga Regional Hospital

Project Red Ribbon has been lobbying for the expansion of OHAT and in-patient coverages of Philhealth. As discussed last June 29, 2015, the proposals presented are now under study. For the in-patient coverage, TRR and RITM-ARG has presented the expanded coverage for two opportunistic infections: cryptococcal meningitis and cytomegalovirus retinitis.

PhilHealth Packages for PLHIV

For the 2 months, The Project Red Ribbon Care Management Foundation (TRR) has been spearheading the revisions of the PhilHealth packages both for out-patient (OHAT) and in-patient coverage. For the sake of those who don't know what TRR is all about, the Foundation is geared towards improving the quality of lives of people living with HIV (HIV) and has been a driving force of health and wellness in the PLHIV community in the Philippines. 

For the past 4 years since TRR started as an advocacy group and bloomed into a full blooded Foundation, we have been helping our economically challenged PLHIV for their medical needs through the TRR Love Fund and our partner PCSO. When TRR because a Foundation in July 2014, TRR has provided medical assistance worth P101,079.79 and PCSO assistance of P1,049,900. However, TRR found out that we are just addressing the the symptoms and not the root causes of the health care problems here in the country.

PhilHealth caught the attention of TRR and during our meeting with the President and CEO of PhilHealth Atty. Padilla, we discussed on how we can review and make recommendations on how to make the best coverage plan for PLHIV.

3 months have passed and we are now on the verge of finalizing everything after 3 tedious meetings. Trust me, the coverage is expansive and even the Department of Health - National AIDS/STI Prevention and Control Program was so excited about the undertaking. It will address a lot of issues (and concerns, if I may put it) concerning PLHIV. As the president of the TRR Foundation, I want to spill it out right now, however, I can wait for another month until it has been signed by the President of PhilHealth.

Email 519: Follow Up Question on PhilHealth

Hello.

This is in regards to "Email 518: Issue with PhilHealth Documents".  Just to clarify the second option you've given, do you mean I'll just register as a new member directly to PhilHealth without letting them know of my previous contributions? or will I tell them that I'll be converting from being an employed member to an individually paying member?

Hello, I'm currently under maintenance after being diagnosed positive last January. I'm frustrated right now because RITM Alabang, which is my treatment hub, requires my philhealth documents including my certificate of contribution which should be requested from my company. However, my company won't release it without any medical reason and I don't want them to know what my current condition is. What should I do? Are there

Email 509: CD4 and VL Test Concerns

dear pozziepinoy,

i was in my ARV for 2 months now , since my initial cd4 counts is 318 and they don't take my initial viral load.. my question is ,does the ARV meds are free? if it so, since i have philhealth, why do they did'nt gave me viral load test? i kept on asking the RITM staff and told me that the test of viral load comes 1 year after ARV meds are taken and it was a package of my philhealth..Dr Ditangco explain to us that we deducted or charge all the  
lab and meds quarterly,but how the meds are free and the laboratory like cd4 and viral load are given only once? succesive lab test to be done upon my discretion because i believe i can monitor my viral load every 3 months as needed.now if the said lab test will out of package, please help me explain if ARV comes free and the once or twice a year Cd4 count and annual viral load to be done and charged to philhealth,,why do they not include to  
the package which i think if meds are free, only the test will be charged on my health insurance, i dont have job at the moment and only rely my philhealth in my medication. Bottom line is, the said test is a must and be done respectivelly so where i can be in peace during this time of trials...

Good day poz,

Regarding philhealth membership.

Is it ok if you pay as an indivual payor, while employed? How can it be happened if your employed , dont you think there will be a problem regarding details of the members? If you will apply for a new membership or new account from the HR? One is employed and the other one is individual payor but same membership number? And or the philhealth will give another membership number to the HR.

Thanks by the way to your answer to my initial query. I have another one which concerns Philhealth. I am hesitant in availing of their program for PLHIV because I am afraid that they might be sending mails to all the patients' home addresses. You see, no one in my family knows about my status. And I want to keep it that way for as long as I can. So, a letter from Philhealth indicating that I am enrolled in their program for PLHIV (if it lands in the wrong hand) would be detrimental to my plan.

hello po. Member na po ako sa philhealth as an individual payer. As of now, wala pa po akong work kasi fresh graduate po ako. Paano po kapag  
employed na ako? ieenroll pa po ba ako ng employer ko ng panibagong account

Good day!

I hope you and Tag are in good health despite worst conditions in Manila.  I've read some of your articles again sa blog mo about PhilHealth.  Lately, dito sa Cebu, our HIV Doctors are slowly enrolling us with our PhilHealth.  Concern ko lang kasi eh, I need to secure CF1 which I already have, sabi kasi ng nurse dito, I need to have an OR of my contributions as a proof.  What I got was a certification from our CompBen on my premiums.  I find it really impossible to secure an OR because our accounting is in Manila.

My question is, can I waive my PhilHealth contributions from the Company and be an individual paying person instead of having to go through the papers?  I am getting anxious as they might suspect me about getting a CF1 every quarter for the refill.  Please help.

I've read your blog. I have few questions regarding HIV,  feeling ko kasi i have it and one of my concerns if i dont want my family to know ayoko ipasa yung burden ng kagagawan ko sa kanila. I know kaya ko pero mas hindi ko kakayanin kung pati sila madadamay. Nabasa ki kasi sa blog mo na once ma-diagnosed ka na positive at for medications kailangang mong mag submit ng phil health id and documents gusto ko lang sana malaman kung malalaman ba ng company na pagtatrabahuhan mo pati family mo once magpasa ka ng ganung klaseng documents? At may bayad ba ang cd4 test?

I volunteered to donate blood for my cousin, whom was infected of Dengue 6 months ago. On March 2013, I received a text re: screening test findings and talk to Dr. C or A ASAP. April 1 ( hoping it was a fools day ) I met Dr. C . She told me that I am HIV + by EIA. I was confused if western blot was included in the test. But I am sure that my blood was also referred to RITM for re check and it is also " reactive ". The pathologist urge me to have HIV test by my own.

There are some things I wanna ask regarding HIV tests since at this point in time I think that I've passed HIV infection denial. I feel that I am really infected now since I've been very sick lately.

May gusto lang sana akong itanong re: hiv test result confidentiality.. I want to get tested sana.. I had an unprotected sex when I was in my 4th yr HS way back 2004... believe it or not pero yun lang talaga ang naging sex experience ko na i think is VERY HIGH RISK... I had PTB last 2007... natapos ko ang treatment pero no changes sa xray ko.. as of now, enlarged ang lymph node ko (palpable sya) since then.
