Philippine HIV and AIDS Registry: July 2014 Report

The Philippine HIV and AIDS Registry of the National Epidemiology Center of the Department of Health (NEC DOH) just released it's July 2014 report.
In July 2014, there were 585 new HIV cases, the highest recorded in the country to date. Of the total cases, 96% were male, with 551 or 94% reported as sexual contact the mode of transmission. Males having sex with men (MSM) was the most predominant type of sexual contact, with 8% of the total cases presented with symptoms. Most of the cases came from the National Capital Region (NCR) followed by Region IVA then by Region VII.
From 1984-2014, there were 19,915 cases of HIV reported, 1,815 were AIDS cases and 1,029 deaths.
