Conclusive Test Result

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 7:46 PM

I would just like to ask how long does it take before I could receive a 100% CONCLUSIVE test result? I had unprotected sex last August 23 and anxious about my status. When can I take the test?

Hi there.

Thank you for your email. Thank you for reading the blog.

Usually 3 months to 6 months post exposure (unprotected sex, exchange of blood, etc), is the period when the antibodies  produced by the body in reaction to HIV can be detected by the HIV test. In our country, the HIV doctors still recommend the HIV test at 3 months and at 6 months post exposure just to be sure. One thing to consider here is the actual exposure time and sometimes overlapping exposures confuses a person on the exact time and date of exposure. Thus just to be sure, retake the test at 6 months. Just make sure no unprotected sex or any risky behaviors are done during that period.

Now in your case, you may want to take your HIV test around November 23 and again at February 23. Again, make sure that from August 23 to Febraury 23, do not expose your self to any risky behaviors so that the result will be accurate. You may want to take it in any HIV testing centers listed below:
