The Project Red Ribbon in Action

For all the readers of the website of Project Red Ribbon, let me tell you what our Care Program has been doing for the past three days:

 1. Our Care Volunteers looked for 2 units of blood to be given to a patient confined in RITM, the biggest HIV and AIDS Treatment hub in the country.

 2. Our Hotline Manager and Care Manager had referred and have been coordinating with an HIV consultant from The Medical City in Pasig for a patient, initially suspected with TB meningitis but later on diagnosed with cerebrovascular accident (CVA or "stroke"). TRR has been coordinating with the family for welfare assistance from the PCSO.

3. A confined TB patient from RITM-ARG was given assistance for endoscopy and coordinated for  ambulance assistance from Taguig City Hall.

 4. PhilHealth assistance and transportation for an HIV positive mother.

 5. A patient diagnosed with pneumocystiis pneumonia (PCP) was brought by the TRR Care Managers in the middle of the night to RITM-ARG for confinement. Patient was rejected by another hospital for lack of hospital bed space.

 6. A patient in Iloilo was being assisted by another TRR Care Manager.

 7. A patient from RITM-ARG was being assisted for his CT Scan in East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City. TRR coordinated with Pasig Social Hygiene for ambulance assistance.


 Our HIV Education and Awareness Talk (HEAT) has already reached around 300 participants in two weeks. It is only mid January of this new year and TRR has already distributed more than twenty thousand sample condoms and more than ten thousand sample water-based lubricants in schools, companies, organizations, motels and to individuals who came to the TRR office in Ortigas Center, Pasig. 

 In the last two weeks of January, TRR will be conducting its Support Group Talk (SGT) which will be a film showing of The Normal Heart, the TRR Outreach Program in RITM-ARG and the monthly Team Building.
