Early HIV testing and early treatment are the keys to saving one’s health and life. Obstacles to these are misinformation about HIV and AIDS, stigma and discrimination issues and lack of information about treatment protocols.

Here are the FACTS:

  1. In the Philippines, there are more than one hundred HIV testing centers nationwide. 
  2. Most hospitals now, offer HIV test. 
  3. There are more than 20 HIV and AIDS treatment hubs and satellite treatment hubs here. 
  4. Antiretroviral medicines are FREE in both government and private treatment hubs. 
  5. There is an HIV law (RA 8504) that protects the rights of people living with HIV, rights of employees with HIV, rights of applicants who are HIV positive.
  6. There are current HIV welfare programs in place.
  7. HIV doctors consultations are free in government hubs.
  8. HIV test is confidential.
  9. There is pre- and post-couselling during HIV test.
  10. PhilHealth has an out-patient HIV and AIDS Treatment package.
  11. The Department of Social Welfare and Development has PLHIV assistance.
  12. Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office also offers assistance.
  13. Most HIV testing centers in the Philippines offer FREE HIV test.
