Synopsis of the Segment

A friend of Sir Rolando wrote a letter to Wish Ko Lang asking to feature the story of Rolando P., a person living with HIV (PLHIV). Vicky Morales, the show's host, started the show with her picking up the friend who told her about Sir Rolando. He guided her to his house where she met Sir Rolando, his mom and his daughter. He then told his story and the show made a re-enactment of his life.

Sir Rolando, because of his family's poverty tried to study hard and when he graduated, he worked as a professor in a university. He loved his job so much and this paved the way for him to help his family especially his mom who supported him when he was still as student. He was able to buy his own house and surprised him mom when they moved in. They were able to enjoy a luxurious life, with good food on the table which they never experienced before. He even surprised his mom with a Thailand trip on her birthday.

He then started to explore another side of his life. He started hanging out in bars and hooking up with strangers.

After some time, he was losing weight and was becoming sickly. He kept on going to different hospitals but they can't correctly give him a diagnosis. One doctor asked him to get an HIV test which he did. The result that he was positive devastated him.

All of a sudden, he stopped going to work. He completely disappeared and hid in the confines of his house. From the story, it showed how he lost his old house as he was now living in a small room with his mom and daughter.

He is also blind and thin now. He was telling everybody that his mom is his eyes and he gets his strength from her. He said that there were times that he wanted to die but his said that she won't allow it. He regrets that she is taking care of him when he used to dream to take care of her. He said that he is praying that his mother may have a longer life and that he can see again so he can work again.

He said that he had doubts of coming out but he had been praying to God a lot. Vicky Morales assured her that she had talked to a lot of PLHIv's and that there's nothing to be ashamed about. She then told him that she has a surprise for him.

The following day, they went to a garden where he was made to touch objects that he used to have when he was a professor. He said he missed a lot of things and the people with whom he used to work with. He was surprised when he was serenaded by his coworkers who introduced themselves to him. It was then that he broke down in tears. He said that he should never have left them. He said that he should never have hid himself because he was feeling his care for him.

After that the show through a University granted a scholarship for his daughter and an NGO assured him of continuous treatment and counseling. His eyes showed tears of gratitude. Then the staff of the show showered him with gifts, remodelled his house, gave him new furnitures and gave him a livelihood.
