POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi htl.

Thank you for your email. Thank you for reading the website.

Regarding the HIV test, you need to take it at 3 months (12 weeks) and 6 months (24 weeks) post exposure to be actually sure of your HIV status. All infectious disease doctors here would recommend that so just follow what the testing facility had told you to do.

With regards to your question, yes I have encountered cases wherein the clients were negative at 9 weeks then turned out positive at 12 weeks. The simple reason for this is that each individual is unique and it is a case to case basis of whether one's body is capable of producing enough HIV antibodies that can be detected by the HIV rapid test. That is the reason why there is a window period for HIV test.

You may consult any infectious disease doctor and they will share the same thing with you so best is to wait for the window period, and stay protected so you won't infect your wife.

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
