Email 446: Gonorrhea, Anal Warts and HIV Treatment

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 8:24 PM
Hello,

My name is Vince. I'm 26 from Makati. I was diagnosed HIV positive last december 27 after going to a private clinic to check on my genital condition. The doctor said I have anogenital gonnorhea and anal warts that's why she told me to get tested for hiv and I agreed and unfortunately the result was positive.

Right now I'm still waiting for the confirmatory test from DOH, however my main concern is that my doctor advised me to go under electrosurgery and chemical desiccation which will cost me 17K. Would you know if there are other clinic or hospital that I can go to for this condition and less expensive? I already took antibiotic for 2 weeks and also they injected rocephin, the gonnorhea seems cured but since I have hemmoroid, my main pain right now is when taking a dump because of this swollen hemmoroid caused by the gonnorhea. I already spent more than 10K for the blood test and rocephin & other medicines (even went to a colorectal doctor to check). I don't know what else to do.

Also, I need an advice to where to get all tests (cbc, viral load, etc) once I receive the confirmatory result? My nurse gave me possible treatment hubs but I don't know which one is the cheapest and best one.

I honestly don't know what to do right now and it's stressing me out.

Hope to receive a reply from you.

Thank you in advance.

Vince

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi Vince.

Thank you for your email. Thank you for finding the blog.

I believe that the best advice that I can give you is for you to get a second opinion. You can go directly to any infectious disease doctor and ask for a second opinion as to where to get a cheaper yet effective treatment. You can also go to an HIV treatment hub as there are infectious disease doctors there to assist you.

The Red Ribbon has a list of doctors and medical specialists who can address your concerns. You may try calling our Care Assistance Program Manager for Hubs, Gerald (0917-899-0473). He can also assist you when it comes to selecting a treatment hub for you.

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
