Philippine HIV & AIDS Registry: December 2013 Report

The Philippine HIV & AIDS Registry of the Department of Health - National Epidemiology Center has just released it's December 2013 Report.

Based on the report, there were 358 new cases of HIV. Most of the cases were male (95%), males having sex with males (82%) were the predominant type of sexual transmission. 91% of the cases were still asymptomatic at the time of the reporting.

The bulk of the HIV cases in December 2013 came from NCR, followed by Regions VII and IVA.

From 1984-2013, there were 16,516 cases of HIV in the Philippines, 9% (1,507) were AIDS cases, with 887 deaths.
