Email 88: About HIV, Back Pains and Stem Cell Therapy

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 10:39 AM

Hi Pozzie,

It's me again, been a while since we last updated you about my boyfriend's case. He already had all his tests done at Jose B Lingad Memorial Hospital in Pampanga City. All his results turned out to be good and healthy except for the HIV test which has not come out until today.

Does it take this long for the results to come out? It is almost 2 months now and we both are being paranoid on what to do. He wanted to take the next step but does not know how and what are the right things to do.
He also wants to ask about his back pains. He recently went back to gym after 3 months and is experience continuous back pains. He knows that muscle pains are normal as he had experienced those on the past months of his regular exercise at the gym. Unfortunately when he went back it is not the muscle that is hurting but his bones itself. Are we supposed to assume that this may be an effect of the HIV?

Lastly we have a good news! He went to the hospital today and one of the doctors told him that there is a new study of for an end to HIV cases which is called the "Stem Cell Therapy". We are hoping that this is the answer to our prayers :)

Thank you Pozzie. God Bless!

Hi XXX,

Thanks for the email again.

I am glad that he finished all his labs in the hospital that I recommended. I am sorry for the slow release of the confirmatory result. I really hope that this will be resolved soon because I have been receiving complaints about this.

Regarding your partner's back pains, best is to have it checked by a doctor. It could be anything so you guys should just be proactive with his health.

About the stem cell therapy, I have heard about it and in case it will become a way to eradicate HIV, I bet it is too expensive. It was claimed to have been used for cancer and other diseases but most countries haven't even totally legalized and approved it. Also it would be hard for stem cell therapy to even penetrate the Philippines because of the religious implications of it. The Philippines is so laid back that even RH Bill and use of condoms are being pushed back by the Catholic Church, so what more for the stem cell therapy wherein the stem cells will come from human fetuses (unborn babies). However, we should all wait for the cure. I am sure it is coming soon.

For now, while we are waiting for the cure, we should try to live as happy and healthy as possible and fight HIV with all our might, with information, with courage and commitment to our doctors, to current treatment and to ourselves.

I hope I was able to answer your questions. feel free to email me again if you have other concerns.

Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
