Dr. Ditangco and Ate Beth coordinated with me regarding a patient who was confined for 2 months in RITM. The patient is a PLHIV with multiple infections and has been confined in the hospital for 2 months. It was reported to me that the hospital can't pay for the medicines of the patient, even provide the patient with dextrose. The Staff of RITM-ARG started to mobilize the Love Fund (TLF) however TLF can't provide all the medicines of the patient. Because of this we decided to ask the help of PCSO.
For the past months, we have been assisting patients with huge medical bills thru the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCS0). The good hearted staff of RITM-ARG headed by Dr. Ditangco, works hand in hand with their patients. They furnish their patients with all the necessary requirements so that their patients can get medical assistance from the the government agency. They even send their staff to assist patient's families just to help them out.
A week ago, carrying all the requirements with him, Marvin, one of the staff of RITM-ARG went and represented a patient for medical assistance, first in the main office in Pasay City. He needed approval first from the heads of the agency as only patient's relatives can be interviewed by the doctors. Complete with patient's authorization letter, to RITM's letter authorizing Marvin to represent the patient, plus all the medical abstract, the pharmacy's request, the bill notices coming from RITM, Marvin waited for everything to be approved. The following day, he went to the PCSO Lung Center Office in Quezon City to be interviewed. He was then asked to come back to get the guarantee letter from PCSO to RITM.
Today, Ate Beth texted me and said that Marvin got the Guarantee Letter amounting to P130,000. Wow! Who says that our government doesn't work for us and for the Filipino patients?
I almost cried when I read the text. Ate Beth said that the entire RITM-ARG is so happy about it. Everybody's grateful and I felt overwhelmed by this great news!
There is hope with HIV. PLHIV's just need to reach out to people and to agency's who have the heart to help. Thanks to all the staff of RITM-ARG and the good hearted people of PCSO!
