Email 145: Lab Test Fees

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 7:09 PM

Hi Pozzie,

May tanong lang po sana ako. Ano po cover ng treatment hub? Kasama po ba ung mga lab test every time I went there or ung free lang ung mga gamot? Tapos unang CD4 ko last June 2011 was in San Lazaro Hospital for free. Tapos sumunod nung June 2012 ulit sa PGH na for free. May idea po ba kayo at puwede ishoulder yun ng PhilHealth? Salamat po. God bless us all.

(Translation: I would just like to ask regarding the health coverage of an HIV treatment hub. Aside from the medicines, are laboratory tests administered free of charge as well? I had my first CD4 in San Lazaro last June 2011 and it was for free. My second CD4 was done in PGH in June 2012 and it was also for free. How much does PhilHealth cover in all the necessary treatments?

Thank you and God bless us all.

CONTRIBUTOR'S RESPONSE

Hello there.

Based on your letter, you took your first CD4 in San Lazaro, and a year after, you took another CD4 in PGH, and they were both free of charge. I want to know where your HIV treatment hub is.

If you're treatment hub is in RITM-ARG, all its patients (new and returning) are entitled to free CD4 testing as well as other laboratory tests (except viral load test, and those lab tests for specific opportunistic infections) courtesy of PhilHealth. The current schedule for the CD4 test in RITM-ARG is strictly from 7AM to 8AM (only Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). With regards to ARVs, they are free in the treatment hubs. However, in some private HIV hubs, they charge handling fees.

I hope I have answered your inquiry. Feel free to write back if you have more concerns. Thanks.
