I had sex with somebody, but I just oral sex as I never got used to having anal sex. Since I was young, I am thin and sickly. It just made me think when I had oral sex last December since I had braces and I didn't swallow him. Now, I had flu for and on the 3rd day, I had temporary rashes that went away when I woke up. I had myself checked in the hospital, had a blood test because I was thinking I had dengue. The result? normal platelet count, higher than normal haemoglobin and low WBC count.

I am scared. I feel like crying. Am I going to die? Is there medicines? I am only 22 y.o. What will I do if I turn out positive? What will happen to me?

Right now, I am taking medicines for measles since the doctors think I have it.

CONTRIBUTOR’S RESPONSE

Hello XXX,

I hope by now you're already feeling better. Oral sex involves a low risk of HIV transmission compared to anal sex. However, a risk is still a risk. Based on your lab test, your illness may have been caused by a virus (low WBC count) but, it is not enough to tell whether you have been infected by HIV or not.

The next best move is to get tested and from there you can live a better life. If it turns out negative then it can bring you peace of mind and a motivation to stay negative. If positive, then you can start living a healthier life. Though the cure is not available at the present time, there are treatments that can slow down the progress of the disease.
