Email 233: Freaking Out!

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 10:27 AM
Magandang araw.

Magtatanong lang sana ako about sa hiv kasi natatakot na ako at sobrang napapraning...

Pagka uwi ko galing states, nakipag meet ako & then sex, meron condom, then minsan isang beses ata or dalawa na walang condom... then months after siguro yun nag-induced ang diarrhea ko (I've always had diarrhea dahil sa hyper acidity) then nagka-almuranas ako then after 5weeks ata yun gumaling na pero continuos parin ang induced acidity ko sa tyan. I also happen to always get singaw many year ago pero pag gumaling ok na then babalik after couple of months.

So hyper acidity, & sinusitis ang sakit na palaging sakit ko eversince nag-college ako,, then nitong nag 30 yrs old ako, napapadalas ang singaw ko & sore throat,,,  paminsan-minsan 2 hanggang 4 ang singaw ko (isang malaki, yung iba maliit)
its been a year na wala akong sex intercourse,,, nagpa oral (chupa) lng ako months ago,,

I think last year January nilagnat ako (dahil ata sa ulan yun).

So ito ang mga naging karamdaman ko:

1. Sinusitis (mula pa noong bata ako)
2. Hyper Acidity/Diarrhea (ngstart noong college)
3. Singaw (maliliit na pasulpot sulpot pero gagaling din agad kinabukasan, napadalas ang paglitaw when I became 30 last year)
4. Lagnat (noong January)
5. Induced Diarrhea to Almuranas (last year March)
6. Soar throat (pasulpot sulpot din kapag nababad sa matamis at hindi agad wash ng mouth, & since bata pa ako weak ako sa matamis)

Tolerable naman ang pagsulpot ng mga karamdaman na to but it freaks me out na baka hiv na to (sana hindi naman, oh God please) I start to get worried about HIV 2yrs ago so I've been watching & tracking yung mga karamdaman ko. I've always been sakitin mula noong bata pa ako like when I get a fever 1 week bago ako gumaling (always like that). When you have HIV po ba mabilis ang pag spread ng mga symptoms? And hindi na xa tolerable? I dont ever want to go doctor kasi parang madalas kung ano-anong sakit sasabihin at minsan mali mali pa... I have a friend kasi na diagnose sa ibang sakit then he was having medications for a wrong illness kaya lalong lumala.

Sincerely,

TRANSLATION:

Good day.

I would like to ask about HIV because I am scared and freaking out.

When I came home from the US, I met and had sex with condom then there one or two times without protection. Months after, I had induced diarrhea (I’ve always had diarrhea because of hyperacidity) and I had hemorrhoids which healed in 5 weeks but my induced acidity persisted. I also happen to always get mouth sores many years ago but there occur intermittently.

Since college, I always have sinusitis and hyperacidity, then when I turned 30, I always have mouth sores and sore throat. Sometimes I have 2-4 mouth sores, both big and small.

It has been a year since I my last sexual intercourse. Someone just gave me a blow job a few months back.

Last December, my friend had a cough and I think I got it from him. The cough was like an asthma attack. I took an antibiotic and my almost one year of induced diarrhea stopped. My normal acidity came back and I didn’t have frequent diarrhea anymore. However, after 3 days of antibiotic, the smal mouth sores multiplied to 5. Now, I am having these mouth sores for 2 months with sore throat and asthmatic cough, once a day which irritates my bronchi.

Then a ringworm appeared on the side of my biceps. It freaked me out more. I think last January I had fever, maybe because of the rain.

So these are what I am feeling:
  1. Sinusitis (since I was young)
  2. Hyperacidity/diarrhea (since college)
  3. Mouth sores (small ones, which will heal the following day, erupted more when I turned 30)
  4. Fever (last January)
  5. Induced diarrhea and hemorrhoids (since last year March)
  6. Sore throat (especially when eating sweets which I like since I was young, won’t get better with mouth)

I can tolerate all of these but it still freaks me out that this maybe HIV related(I hope not, please God). I started to get worried about HIV 2 years ago so I have been watching and tracking what I am feeling. I’ve always been sickly since I was a kid, like fever will last for a week.

When you have HIV, will the symptoms spread fast? Will they still be tolerable? I don’t ever want to go to the doctor because most of the time they will just say different conditions and sometimes they give a wrong diagnosis. I have a friend who was diagnosed with a different illness and was given medications that worsened the condition. I am also scared to take the test because I might get more depressed. Will the symptoms get worse fast? I am taking pure herbal and home remedies except for the antifungal for the ringworm.

I hope I you respond to my email.

Sincerely,
anonymousguy

CONTRIBUTOR'S RESPONSE

Dear anonymousguy,

I will just maybe dissect the mentioned symptoms such as sinusitis, hyperacidity, singaw (mouth sore), lagnat (fever), induced diarrhea and sore throat. These symptoms are actually non-specific. In MOST cases, sinusitis and hyperaciditiy are not part of the anti-retroviral syndrome while prolonged diarrhea happens when a person goes to the AIDS phase. Basically, fever, singaw (mouth sore) and sore throat can happen to anyone and YES, these symptoms are common if you are under stress, anxiety and the like.

In the classic anti-retroviral syndrome, the condition is like a severe flu with magnified joint and muscle pains, moderate to high-grade fever and most importantly, there is a prior high-risk exposure especially within the last 3 months.

Over-all, since you did not mention the forms of risk that you have, then it is best to have the test be taken preferably at least three months from your last exposure with no high-risk exposures in between. If you turn out negative..at least at this point you can stop worrying. If you are uncertain about your last exposure, then it is best to have the test be taken now and repeat after three months.

You said that you are afraid to get depressed if you find out that you are positive but do you know that chronic stress and anxiety can as well lead to stress with no resolution of your worries?. It is best to have the screening test and hope for the best outcome.
