POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi.

Thank you for your email.

The window period for HIV antibodies to develop is up to 3 months. This means that the HIV test can detect these antibodies anytime up to 3 months depending on one's ability to produce these antibodies, however at 3 months or more it is already pretty accurate.

You can try getting the test at this time however, like what I said it is possible that you might get a negative or non reactive result and will be advised to come back again 3 months post exposure. Anyway, it is a win-win scenario. If your result turns out positive at 1 month then you get treatment early. If it turns out negative, at least you get to try the HIV test so next time you come back you won't be as scared anymore.

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
