Email 706: HIV and Life Insurance Policy

Posted by Pozziepinoy on 8:45 AM

Hi Pozziepinoy.

Tanong ko lang.... plano ko kasi kumuha ng life insurance pero may nakita ako sa form nila na question;

-a possitive blood test for anibodies to HIV?

Do i have to disclose or pwede hindi....

Non-medical insurance naman ang kukunin ko.... Life insurance lng in case
mamamatay na ako.... (Just being practical)

Thanks!

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi.

Thank you for your email.

If it is an insurance policy and it is a requirement for you to answer questions about your HIV status, then of course you have to disclose. Anyway, if they later find out that you have HIV and they don't allow any pre-existing conditions in the first place, since you falsified information, you might lose everything that you already contributed and not get the insurance  as well. It will just be a waste of money and time in the first place.

If I were you, ask the company if they do allow pre-existing conditions like HIV for their policy. If not, then don't bother them anymore.

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
