Hi Pozziepinoy.

Thanks for the reply. I am working that is why I haven't gone and had a check up yet. But I plan hopefully after Holy Week. If I ahd sex with a person with HIV or AIDS, how fast will I get infected and how long before the symptoms come out? I was suspecting I may have acquired the virus last December 2011. How much is the HIV test. Is there a price difference for men and women? Now I have a cough. But I do remember before that it was hard for me to breathe. Then my blood pressure is high and always at 130/90 or 140/90 which is quite high since I am only 32 years old. My rashes started on my shoulders which flattened and became reddish and spread up to my chest. I can't tell anybody because people might avoid or talk about me.

Thanks.

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE

Hi XXX.

Thank you for your email.

Let me enumerate all my answers to you.

1. If you had unprotected sex, take the test. It is the only way for you to know what you are feeling and experiencing.

2. Prioritize your health before it is too late. Your job can wait, while your health can't. Delaying any consultation with a doctor can one, aggravate your condition, and two, can be financially draining. HIV meds FREE however, other medications for infections are not. I had pneumonia before with persistent coughing, difficulty of breathing, chest pains, high blood pressure, etc and got hospitalised. I spent almost P500,000 on hospital bills for only 9 days! If could have saved this money if only I got a consultation after any of my unprotected sex encounters, and before I felt any symptoms.

3. HIV Test is FREE in RITM Satellite Clinic for both men and women. In other clinics and hospitals, it ranges from P500 to P2,000.

4. HIV can be easily transmitted immediately after any unprotected sex with a person with HIV.

5. HIV symptoms are non specific. This means that after the initial flu like symptoms, some may or may not experience any symptoms. Also, the emergence and the timing and duration of symptomatogy depends on the immune system of the person.

Please prioritize your health before it is too late. There should be no excuses now. RITM Satellite Clinic is even open on Sundays so what are you waiting for?

I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.

Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
