Email 302: Is the HIV Test Accurate?
Posted by Pozziepinoy on 8:26 AM
Is the HIV test in RITM accurate? I took the test and It was negative. But I took it 2-3 weeks after contact. Was that accurate?
Thanks,
Zero
POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE
Hi Zero.
Thank you for your email.
The HIV test in RITM Satellite Clinic is accurate. However since you took the test 2-3 weeks after contact, it is possible that you are still in the window period and it is possible that the HIV test can't detect any HIV antibodies yet in your blood. It usually takes 3 months (12 weeks) to develop HIV antibodies, thus you need to come back and do the test 12 weeks after contact to make sure.
I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.
Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
