I would like to ask something. When I had a check up because I was constipated for a few days, my doctor talked to me and told me that he saw warts in my anal area and he said that they are caused by a sexually transmitted disease. My bowel problem is not cured but my concern now is my anal warts. Is that a sign of HIV or not? Please I need your response.

POZZIEPINOY’S RESPONSE
Hi XXX.
Thank you for your email.
HPV or human papillomavirus is the cause of your anal warts and like what your doctor has told you, it is a sexually transmitted disease. It is a different virus from HIV however, infectious disease doctors, once they see anal warts would recommend a person to take the HIV and other STD tests too.
If I am in your position, it is best to take the HIV and other STD tests to be sure. Also see a doctor again to have those anal warts removed.
I hope I was able to answer your concerns. Feel free to email me again if you have other questions.
Stay healthy,
Pozziepinoy
