Lead The Way!

I am calling all our fellow PLHIV's. Most of us have gone through the worst and now we are back to our normal lives. However, are we done with our responsibility? Are we all ready to just live with HIV and not think of helping others? Should we just ignore the facts and not mind our fellow friends and colleagues about the dangers of their lifestyle?

There are only a few who are still committed to the advocacy: of educating, of reaching out, of lobbying for our cause. Although, it is still noble to live our normal lives, what we all have gone through can inspire and motivate others to take responsibility of their lives. We can't just stand and look at our friends and loved ones, and allow them to contract the same disease right in front of our eyes.

It's a wake up call for us. We PLHIV's should not just live only with our lives but help make sure that HIV should not be contracted by our friends, loved ones, relatives and colleagues.

There are so many things to do, but if we can't educate people, we PLHIV's should at least guide them and lead them to take the HIV test. There are counselors who will do the briefings so all we need to do is to gather them up and make the invitation. The fact that HIV is increasing every month in our country should not be ignored anymore. We have a voice and we should use it. We have the power since we are living with the virus, thus we can empower others. Make the invitation now.

Facts are just numbers that can easily be ignored by most, but if we care for our friends, loved ones, relatives and colleagues who have the same lifestyle as ours, start leading them now to the HIV testing centers. If all 14,000 PLHIV's all over the Philippines, should just tell one friend a day to take the test or bring one friend to the HIV testing center a week, then we can make a difference. If all of us 14,000 PLHIV's who are currently benefitting from HIV treatments from our hubs can make a collective voice and start empowering people, we are adding to all the efforts of our advocates who are promoting education and awareness.

It is time to act and the time is NOW.  Having HIV is not only a thing to live with for us, my fellow PLHIV's, but something that we can make use of to empower others to be proactive about their health.

"WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
NO PLHIV is alone with his or her struggle with HIV!"
