Synopsis of the play:
"KIRIRIRNG AIDA'T MACARAEG" is a trilogy about the dreaded disease AIDS. Set in the early 90s when Pinoy were still ignorant in dealing with people infected by HIV. This play gives us an in-depth view on how people living with AIDS carry on with their lives in the midst of prejudice.
The story is about three individuals infected with HIV. They tried to live a normal life but still haunted by their past. They fought until the end to retain their sanity, cope up with their deteriorating physical condition and overcome their everyday emotional catastrophe.
Kiriring.
Kristine Ryan, a mail order bride and a victim of white slavery tells her story in a very long phone conversation with her best friend Ditas. Alone in her room she recalls her dream to have a better life by marrying a foreigner who can bring her out of the country, how she met her husband Kent Ryan, her unfortunate adventure in the USA and the sad ending of her American dream.
Aida.
Aida, a former bar girl in Olangapo was forced to leave her job when the US Military Bases were closed. She tried her luck and applied as an entertainer in Japan. She was deported back to the Philippines after staying there for a couple of months when her employer found out that she is HIV infected.
To forget her sad experience she tried to live a normal life and live in a remote community in Quezon Province. She worked as a waitress in a small cafeteria where she met Cris. They fell in love and decided to live together.
Aida has no courage to tell Cris her deepest secret. She’s afraid that Cirs will leave her or kill her if she will confess everything.
