Posted by Pozziepinoy on 2:43 PM

I read your blog and it seems like you are helping in your site. By the way, I would also like to share with you. I’m a 29 y.o. man with a partner who was detected to have PID two years ago. Two years ago, I also had a check up as I had itchiness around my crotch and perianal parts. I also felt some burning senation which I ignored since it was intermittent. I  told my doctor that my partner had PID and he told me that PID is a kind of STD that usually occurs in women since they are more “open”. He told me that I didn’t have STD as I didn’t have any rashes, swollen organ and urine with pus. He just saw my scratches and he gave me quadriderm ointment which somehow helped. He told me that I need to keep my crotch dry and my perianal part to avoid fungal infection. Because I didn’t pay attention to his order, the itchiness kept on coming back. I tried buying quadriderm but it was out of the market.

Now I am suffering from the burning sensation again and itchiness in my critch and perianal part. I already went to a urologist and had a urinalysis and had my urine cultured for any bacteria but the result was negative. I had my prostate and kidney checked and although there was no result yet, the doctor said that he didn’t find anything wrong.

I will go back to the urologist for the result of the lab and to seek for advice. I am confused and scared that the burning sensation on the tip of my penis is one kind of STD and maybe it doesn’t show in my urine and without any other symptoms. If there is any, what kind of STD is this? There is a big difference when I applied trosyd to my crotch and perianal area. I always make my crotch dry although I still have the itchiness especially when I am sweating. I was thinking maybe because I have hemorrhoids that I am having these. I don’t have headaches, stomach pain, vomitting and diarrhea.

I hope that you can help me.

CONTRIBUTOR'S RESPONSE

Hi!

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of the womb (uterus) and Fallopian tubes. It also affects the ovaries sometimes. Whatever is responsible for, the infection usually travels into the uterus from the vagina or neck of the womb. So basically it is a woman's diesase.

A common cause of PID is from a sexually transmitted infection (the bacteria are passed on when you have sex). Chlamydia and gonorrhoea are the most commonly found causes of PID. A mixture of chlamydia plus gonorrhoea sometimes occurs. Sometimes the bacteria can be in the neck of the womb for some time without causing symptoms. When they travel into the womb you become unwell. This is why you might develop PID weeks or months after having sex with an infected person.

Any other sexual partner within the previous six months should be tested for infection. If you have not had sex within the previous six months then your latest sexual partner (however long ago the relationship was), should be tested and treated. A course of antibiotics is usually advised whether or not infection is found on testing. Men often have no symptoms with chlamydia, but can still pass on the infection.

From what you described, it is obviously not PID but  you might have some fungal infection deep down there but again as you said , nothing was seen so it could also be due to allergies too. The burning sensation in your penis could be due to highly acidic urine which could be due to your diet, small stones or remotely, kidney infection but this could be addressed by your check up with urologist. I just notice that you always keep on worrying about STD. I think it is best for you to have test too for HIV, Hepatitis B , C and Syphilis along with your partner. If all of these will come out as negative, then just follow what the advice of your urologist.
